Thousands of Chinese migrants have entered the United States since October.
Since the beginning of fiscal year 2024, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have encountered 20,000 Chinese migrants.
According to Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, “Border Patrol’s San Diego sector apprehended 269 Chinese nationals who crossed illegally” on February 12.
“More than 20,000 Chinese nationals have now been encountered by CBP in FY’24 so far,” he wrote on X. “For perspective, there were only 450 Chinese encountered in all of FY’21.”
The surge of Chinese migrants may present security threats, a concern shared by Rep. Mark Green (R-TN), the House Homeland Security Committee Chairman.
“Our Committee has been informed that some of these Chinese nationals are affiliated with the People’s Liberation Army and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)—and those are just the ones we’ve been able to vet,” he wrote on social media.
“As the CCP works to undermine and infiltrate our institutions and even our military, Secretary Mayorkas has made it clear to the entire world that our borders are wide-open. This is simply unsustainable, and the national security risks are massive.”
