Three American service members were killed and many wounded in a drone stroke in Jordan Sunday.
President Joe Biden attributed the attack to Iran-backed militia groups, saying the United States “will hold all those responsible to account at a time and in a manner our choosing.”
Troops have used Jordan as a basing point for long periods of time, and the attack took place in northeast Jordan near the Syrian border.
U.S. Central Command said 25 service members were injured the attack in addition to the three killed as some 3,000 American troops typically are stationed in Jordan.
According to Muhannad Mubaidin, a government spokesman for Jordan, “the attack happened outside of the kingdom across the border in Syria,” but could not be confirmed.
This is a developing story.
