Data from Britain’s Home Office revealed that 62,336 migrants were granted refugee status in 2023, The National Pulse reported.
The number is a 300% increase from 2022 and a 475% increase from 2021.
According to immigration statistics from the U.K., “there were 202,041 grants of British citizenship in 2023, 15% more than in 2022.”
Discussing “irregular migration,” the statistics report noted that “Afghans were the top small boat arrival nationality, accounting for 20% of small boat arrivals in 2023.”
The statistic is down 33% from 2022.
Former Home Secretary Suella Braverman wrote on X, “1.4 million people were granted visas here last year.”
“Asylum approvals at a record high,” she continued. “Work & student visa numbers, including many dependents, are appalling. This cannot go on: we don’t have enough homes, GPs or schools to support this level.”
“The PM must adopt policies I pushed for that would have prevented this national disaster: we need a cap on overall numbers,” Braverman added. “Britain will be unrecognisable if this carries on. It’s not what the British people, including me, voted for.”
In September, Braverman told the American Enterprise Institute that current immigration policies have “failed” the West.
She emphasized that “uncontrolled immigration, inadequate integration, and a misguided dogma of multiculturalism have proven a toxic combination” for Western civilization.
The number of migrants flooding Europe “has been too much, too quick, with too little thought given to integration and the impact on social cohesion,” Braverman stressed. “If cultural change is too rapid and too big, then what was already there is diluted,” Braverman added. “Eventually it will disappear.”
