Venezuela Stops Taking Flights of Deported Illegal Immigrants

Venezuela has stopped accepting flights carrying illegal immigrants out of the United States.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the flights ceased in late January.

Since October, the U.S. has deported an estimated 1,800 Venezuelans on 15 flights. The number is “a small fraction” of the Venezuelans held along the southern border, the outlet reported.

The move comes as President Joe Biden admitted that the U.S. border has not been secure for “the last 10 years.”

When asked by a reporter if the border is secure, Biden said, “No, it’s not,” adding, “I haven’t believed that for the last 10 years, and I’ve said it for the last 10 years. Give me the money.”

After Biden acknowledged the border crisis, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said in a statement, “House Republicans have been sounding the alarm about the catastrophic effects of Presiden Biden’s open border policies since he began his term. Last year, I sent a letter to the President to demand he take immediate executive action. He has thus far ignored by demands, and the please from big city mayors, border state governors, and the American people.”

The statement added, “Americans have lost faith in this President and won’t be fooled by election year gimmicks that don’t actually secure the border. Nor will they forget that the President created this catastrophe and, until now, has refused to use his executive power to fix it.”
