Nikki Haley is commencing a “Beast of the Southeast” bus tour in South Carolina on Saturday, embarking on numerous campaign stops leading up to the state’s GOP presidential primary. As a former South Carolina governor, she hopes to leverage local support in the upcoming contest, particularly after witnessing former President Donald Trump secure significant victories in Iowa and New Hampshire.
Despite her ambitions, Haley faced a setback in the Nevada primary, where “None of the Above” prevailed, while Trump is expected to clinch the Nevada caucuses on Thursday, further solidifying his frontrunner status and reinforcing perceptions of his unstoppable momentum.
Haley has attempted to provoke Trump into debating her and has criticized his limited campaign presence in South Carolina. However, as she launches her bus tour, she faces competition for voter attention, as Trump is scheduled to hold a get-out-the-vote rally in Conway, South Carolina, later that afternoon.
Trump has maintained a strong lead over Haley among GOP voters in the initial nomination contests. Nevertheless, Haley remains committed to staying in the race at least until the 16 Super Tuesday contests on March 5.
