Nancy Pelosi, the former House Speaker and current congressional adviser, criticized the left wing of the Democratic Party on Sunday. She suggested that calls for a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas echo a message supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Pelosi, a California Democrat, remarked, “For them to call for a cease-fire is Mr. Putin’s message. Make no mistake, this is directly connected to what he would like to see. Same thing with Ukraine.”
Pelosi also expressed concerns about pro-Palestinian demonstrators, suggesting that some may have Russian ties.
“Protesters have increasingly targeted their cease-fire calls on prominent Democrats including President Biden, whom they’ve dubbed ‘Genocide Joe’ over his support for Israel,” Pelosi explained. “Some of these protesters are spontaneous and organic and sincere. Some, I think, are connected to Russia. I say that having looked at this for a long time.”
