{"id":9297,"date":"2024-02-11T09:29:42","date_gmt":"2024-02-11T03:59:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/11\/waiting-on-god-by-helen-lescheid\/"},"modified":"2024-02-11T09:29:42","modified_gmt":"2024-02-11T03:59:42","slug":"waiting-on-god-by-helen-lescheid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/11\/waiting-on-god-by-helen-lescheid\/","title":{"rendered":"Waiting on God &#8211; by Helen Lescheid"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<hr\/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #808080;\">\u201c<em><strong>I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope<\/strong><\/em>.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Psalm 130: 5<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<hr\/>\n<p>We spend much of our time waiting for prayers to be answered.\u00a0 Waiting for healing.\u00a0 Waiting for our children to come home. Waiting for a job opportunity. Waiting for the house to sell. Why so much waiting? Time is a protection for us. We couldn\u2019t bear to see all our lives at once.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Waiting on God is not the same as doing nothing<\/strong>. The truth is, waiting requires tremendous faith and focus.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #993300;\">How can we make a time of waiting more tolerable, even fruitful?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>1. Realize God\u2019s leading is uniquely yours.<\/strong> He knows us better than we know ourselves and He always has the best in mind.\u00a0 \u201c<em>Look to Me<\/em>,\u201d I hear Jesus saying, \u201c<em>what I am doing with your life is my love-gift to you.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Remember what God has done for you in the past<\/strong>. Reading through an old journal always leaves me incredibly grateful. Problems that seemed insurmountable have been overcome. Dreams have come true. Prayers have been answered. As I read about God\u2019s faithfulness in the past, there\u2019s a growing certainty that God is working just as diligently in the present.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Think of your life<\/strong> as one day and focus on present blessings. \u201c<em>Each day is a little life; each morning is a new beginning<\/em>,\u201d writes <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Arthur Schopenhauer<\/span>.\u00a0 \u201c<em>Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own,<\/em>\u201d Jesus said in <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Matthew 6:34<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Change<\/strong> <strong>what you can and leave the rest to God.<\/strong> Nothing wards off that helpless I\u2019m-a-victim feeling as quickly as doing something productive like working in the garden, knitting a toque, having someone over for a meal\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>5<\/strong>.<strong> Stand firm<\/strong> <strong>on the God of hope<\/strong>. Although we may be uncertain as to what God is doing, we can be certain of His character. He\u2019s always acting in love towards us. \u201c<em>I know the plans I have for you,<\/em>\u201d <em>declares the LORD, \u201cplans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future<\/em>\u201d (<strong>Jeremiah 29:11<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Why must we wait? God wants to grow fruit in our lives which takes time to ripen, like patience and perseverance. He wants to show us more of Himself; He wants to grow our relationship with Him.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Father, thank you that you are present in my waiting.
