House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Majority Leader Tom Emmer (R-MN), and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) released a statement<\/a> calling for President Joe Biden to resign following a report from Special Counsel Robert Hur\u2019s office detailing Biden\u2019s cognitive problems.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Special Counsel\u2019s finding that President Biden \u2018willfully retained and disclosed classified materials\u2019 and engaged in practices that \u2018present serious risks to national security\u2019 is deeply disturbing,\u201d the Republicans wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cNot only does it demonstrate the President\u2019s recklessness, but exposes a two-tiered system of justice that is indicting one President with politically motivated charges while carrying water for another amid similar allegations,\u201d they continued.<\/p>\n \u201cAmong the most disturbing parts of this report is the Special Counsel\u2019s justification for not recommending charges: namely that the President\u2019s memory had such \u2018significant limitations\u2019 that he could not convince a jury that the President held a \u2018mental state of willfulness\u2019 that a serious felony requires.\u201d<\/p>\n The Republican leaders noted that a \u201cman too incapable of being held accountable for mishandling classified information is certainly unfit for the Oval Office.\u201d<\/p>\n
