{"id":8927,"date":"2024-02-08T22:47:08","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T17:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/08\/national-security-council-representative-issues-apology-for-misinformation-on-iraq-strikes\/"},"modified":"2024-02-08T22:47:08","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T17:17:08","slug":"national-security-council-representative-issues-apology-for-misinformation-on-iraq-strikes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/08\/national-security-council-representative-issues-apology-for-misinformation-on-iraq-strikes\/","title":{"rendered":"National Security Council Representative Issues Apology for Misinformation on Iraq Strikes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>John Kirby, a White House spokesman for the Biden administration\u2019s National Security Council, issued an apology on Tuesday for inaccurately stating that the U.S. had informed Iraq in advance of Friday\u2019s attacks against terrorists supported by Iran.<\/p>\n<p>During a news conference shortly after the strikes in response to the deaths of three U.S. soldiers in Jordan on January 28th, Kirby had asserted that Washington had provided Baghdad with early notice, but this turned out to be untrue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI deeply apologize for the error, and I regret any confusion that it caused,\u201d Kirby told reporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was based on information we had, or that a witness provided to me, in those early hours after the strikes. It turns out, that information was incorrect, and I certainly regret the error,\u201d Kirby continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I hope that you\u2019ll understand there was no ill intent behind it\u2014no deliberate intent to deceive or to be wrong. I take those responsibilities very, very seriously. And I deeply regret the mistake that I made.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Known for his colorful off-camera remarks as a consistent co-host of White House briefings, Kirby is considered a potential contender for presidential press secretary in the future if Biden is re-elected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI made a mistake there on Friday night,\u201d he added. \u201cI do really regret it, and I promise you I will do a better job going forward and work harder to not put bad information out there. Again, my apologies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This apology stands in contrast to the Biden administration\u2019s handling of other embarrassing mistakes, such as President Biden\u2019s 2022 inquiry, \u201cWhere\u2019s Jackie?\u201d when searching for the late Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) at a public event.
