The State Department paid Washington State University to train \u201cmaster trainers\u201d in India to teach 2,000 people to become \u201cLGBTQI+ allies,\u201d according to a report from The Daily Caller<\/a>.<\/p>\n The university received $15,000 from the government in July 2023 to hold a workshop designed to train individuals to become \u201callies\u201d of LGBTQI-identifying individuals.<\/p>\n According to a government spending database<\/a>, the grant will also promote a \u201cbetter understanding of diversity and inclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n The objective of the grant, along with similar programs, was to \u201csupport the achievement of U.S. foreign policy goals and objectives, advance national interests, and enhance national security by informing and influencing foreign publics and by expanding and strengthening the relationship between the people and government of the United States and citizens of the rest of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n The grant was awarded on July 1, 2023, and runs through June 30, 2024.<\/p>\n American Faith previously reported<\/a> that the State Department\u00a0provided<\/a>\u00a0funding for an India-based Queer Muslim group.<\/p>\n According to a description of the grant, \u201cThe Queer Muslim Project will provide a platform to a group of young LGBTQIA writers from underrepresented communities in South Asia to showcase their work at a leading Mumbai literature festival alongside writers from the Iowa Writing Program.\u201d<\/p>\n The State Department is also\u00a0funding<\/a> a dancing program to \u201cuplift transgender and gender diverse\u201d people in Peru.<\/p>\n \u201cBallroom Saves Lives: Resiliency and Wellness in Peru Ballroom\u201d is a winner of the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund (CDAF), a competition that\u00a0focuses<\/a>\u00a0on \u201cstrengthening democratic institutions and fighting disinformation,\u201d \u201cprotecting the environment,\u201d \u201chuman rights, refugees, and migrants,\u201d \u201cbuilding community through arts, sports, language, and technology,\u201d and \u201cfostering alumni network development.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
