A group of\u00a0Senate Republicans\u00a0are calling for Minority Leader\u00a0Mitch McConnell to step down over the new bipartisan border bill introduced this week.<\/p>\n
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) told reporters during a press conference, \u201cI think it is,\u201d when asked if it\u2019s time for McConnell to step down.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Senators JD Vance, (R-OH), Ron Johnson, (R-WI), Eric Schmitt, (R-MO), Roger Marshall, (R-KS), Mike Lee, (R-UT), Rick Scott, (R-FL), in a press conference that McConnell, should have \u201cwalked away\u201d from the border agreement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re not committing ourselves to voting for this thing just because we entered the negotiation, and you hear this from some of our leadership \u2013 and hopefully they will stop \u2013 the idea that we committed to supporting whatever came out of this negotiation is pure, unadulterated bulls,\u201d Vance said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe supported a negotiation to bring commonsense border security to this country. We did not agree to a border fig leaf to send another $61 billion to Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone here also supported a leadership challenge to Mitch McConnell in November,\u201d Cruz said. \u201cI think a Republican leader should actually lead this conference and should advance the priorities of Republicans.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
