Matt Gaetz (R-FL) is to introduce a resolution, with the support of 63 cosponsors, declaring that Donald Trump \u201cdid not commit an insurrection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senator JD Vance (R-OH) is preparing companion legislation.<\/p>\n<p>In a press conference, Gaetz said, \u201cWe are here today to authoritatively express that President Trump did not commit an insurrection, and we believe Congress has a unique role in making that declaration. It\u2019s not the job of states, and especially not the job of some bureaucrats in Colorado, to make this assessment and interfere with the rights of voters to cast their vote for the candidate of their choice.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) <a href=\"https:\/\/stefanik.house.gov\/2024\/2\/icymi-stefanik-president-donald-trump-did-not-engage-in-insurrection-or-rebellion-against-the-united-states-that-is-a-fact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> during the press conference, \u201cThe American People are smart. They know that the weaponized attacks of radical, Far Left prosecutors and Joe Biden\u2019s Department of Justice against President Donald Trump are nothing more than a targeted, political witch hunt used to further their own extreme, Far Left political agenda and hijack the will of the American people come election day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs President Donald Trump continues to dominate in the polls, Extreme Democrats will stop at nothing in an attempt to prevent President Donald Trump from returning to the White House, and the Democrats are shredding the Constitution in the process,\u201d she continued. \u201cJoe Biden claims that democracy is on the ballot, yet the American people know that it is Joe Biden and Democrats who are openly attacking democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) stated, \u201cNot one single person has been charged with insurrection.
