A Minneapolis man was sentenced to ten years in federal prison for setting\u00a0fire to the Target corporate headquarters\u00a0during the 2020 \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d riots.<\/p>\n
Leroy Lemonte Perry Williams was one of several people who engaged in activity that included arson, looting, burglaries, assaults on police, and property damage in the downtown and other areas of Minneapolis.<\/p>\n
Williams was later charged in federal court with conspiracy to commit arson for the fire that damaged Target Corporation\u2019s corporate headquarters building located at 1000 Nicollet Mall.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, Williams reportedly used a lighter inside the building to ignite cardboard and an unidentified male intervened by confronting him.<\/p>\n
Court records show that Williams was previously offered a plea deal in January 2021, but later withdrew his plea, which led to a jury trial in October last year when he was found guilty.<\/p>\n
Williams\u2019 10 year prison sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
