{"id":8076,"date":"2024-02-03T06:04:58","date_gmt":"2024-02-03T00:34:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/03\/trump-election-interference-case-removed-from-calendar\/"},"modified":"2024-02-03T06:04:58","modified_gmt":"2024-02-03T00:34:58","slug":"trump-election-interference-case-removed-from-calendar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/03\/trump-election-interference-case-removed-from-calendar\/","title":{"rendered":"Trump Election Interference Case Removed from Calendar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_82\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>The January 6 case against Donald Trump has been dropped from the court\u2019s public calendar.<\/p>\n<p>The case, brought by special counsel Jack Smith, has been postponed indefinitely.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/dc-md-va\/2024\/02\/01\/trump-trial-calendar-jan-6-delay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Washington Post<\/a>, the \u201cMarch 4 trial date on charges of plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 election has been dropped from the public calendar of the federal court in Washington, a sign of what has long been anticipated \u2014 that his claim of presidential immunity from criminal prosecution would delay his trial while it remains on appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is unknown when the case was removed, although it is believed to have occurred within the last week.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is arguing in an appeal to the case that he is protected by presidential immunity.<\/p>\n<p>American Faith <a href=\"https:\/\/americanfaith.com\/supreme-court-rejects-special-counsel-jack-smiths-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> in December that Smith asked the Supreme Court to take action on the case to prevent delays that could push the trial after the 2024 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court declined to rule quickly,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/orders\/courtorders\/122223zr_3e04.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">writing<\/a>, \u201cThe petition for a writ of certiorari before judgment is denied.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Journalist Simon Ateba shared the news on X, stating, \u201cThe alleged election interference case against @realDonaldTrump in Washington, DC, has been postponed indefinitely and removed from the court calendar. Originally scheduled for March 4, a day before Super Tuesday, the trial\u2019s start date is uncertain until an appeal court ruling is issued.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s therefore getting a bit late to stop Trump before the presidential election in November!!!!
