Catholic University of America fired a professor after she invited an abortion doula to a lecture.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe speaker identified herself as an \u2018abortion doula\u2019 and she advocated for abortion, for language that distorts the distinctions between the sexes, and for the normalizing of transgender births,\u201d university president Peter Kilpatrick wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile we were unable to confirm what exactly was said in the class, we did determine that the speaker\u2019s views on life issues and on the anthropology of the human person were not consistent with our mission and identity as a faithful Catholic university, and that she should not be allowed to address the class again.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNow that we have clear evidence that the content of the class did not align with our mission and identity, we have now terminated our contract with the professor who invited the speaker,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Psychology lecturer Melissa Goldberg invited the doula, Rachel Carbonneau, to the class.<\/p>\n The abortion doula used terms such as \u201cbirthing person\u201d and \u201cseahorse births,\u201d or births had by a woman who believes herself to be a man,\u201d The Daily Signal <\/a>reported.<\/p>\n One student asked Carbonneau to clarify the terms, prompting the doula to describe working with \u201ctrans clients.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI have some men who have given birth; it\u2019s amazing, we call it seahorse birth. It\u2019s lovely, especially when it\u2019s a water birth; it\u2019s fantastic,\u201d the doula said. She added that the idea of \u201cpregnant men\u201d should be normalized.<\/p>\n \u201cI think just normalizing it, right? Using the gender-neutral language, talking about pregnant men as pregnant people, pregnant women, pregnant men, pregnant humans,\u201d Carbonneau stated.<\/p>\n
