A commentary published in The Telegraph<\/a> detailed how California\u2019s woke policies are continuously destroying the state.<\/p>\n Joel Kotkin, the author of the commentary, noted that part of California\u2019s failure rests in its increasing unemployment rate.<\/p>\n According to a report from Courthouse News Service<\/a>, California\u2019s unemployment rose to 5.1% by the end of 2023.<\/p>\n In December 2023, 983,000 Californians were unemployed, up 192,700 people from December 2022.<\/p>\n Kotkin explained that the state\u2019s middle class \u201cpay among the country\u2019s highest taxes,\u201d resulting in many residents fleeing the state for financial freedom.<\/p>\n The observation follows<\/a> California losing over 75,000 residents in 2023 alone.<\/p>\n \u201cA shrinking middle class and a growing exodus of upper class taxpayers \u2013 who pay much of the state\u2019s taxes \u2013 has now brought about the inevitable fiscal reckoning in the form of a record $68 billion deficit,\u201d Kotkin wrote.<\/p>\n California\u2019s record deficit comes<\/a> as the state allows transgender surgeries for illegal immigrants under its healthcare program.<\/p>\n According to a\u00a0memo<\/a>\u00a0from 2022, Medi-Cal includes hormone therapy and a \u201cvariety of surgical procedures that bring primary and secondary gender characteristics into conformity with the individual\u2019s identified gender, including ancillary services, such as hair removal, incident to those services.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGender-affirming care is a covered Medi-Cal benefit when medically necessary,\u201d the memo adds. \u201cRequests for gender-affirming care should be from specialists experienced in providing culturally competent care to transgender and gender diverse individuals and should use nationally recognized guidelines.\u201d<\/p>\n
