{"id":7381,"date":"2024-01-29T14:06:45","date_gmt":"2024-01-29T08:36:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/29\/muslims-in-uganda-tear-a-family-members-home-down-brick-by-brick-for-converting-to-christianity\/"},"modified":"2024-01-29T14:06:45","modified_gmt":"2024-01-29T08:36:45","slug":"muslims-in-uganda-tear-a-family-members-home-down-brick-by-brick-for-converting-to-christianity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/29\/muslims-in-uganda-tear-a-family-members-home-down-brick-by-brick-for-converting-to-christianity\/","title":{"rendered":"Muslims in Uganda Tear a Family Member&#8217;s Home Down Brick by Brick for Converting to Christianity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.swncdn.com\/via\/images\/2024\/01\/23\/34300\/34300-cms-image-size-51_source_file.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>NAIROBI<\/strong>, <strong>Kenya<\/strong>, January 23, 2024 (<a data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/morningstarnews.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D7ec6d7eb2533a90581f839110%26id%3D2b71badee4%26e%3D0059ef0304&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1706130259663000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2XZpnJY0IQ_fv3kGrNPBLW\" href=\"https:\/\/morningstarnews.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=7ec6d7eb2533a90581f839110&amp;id=2b71badee4&amp;e=0059ef0304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Morning Star News<\/a>)<br \/>A Muslim in Uganda who put his faith in Christ as the new year began has suffered serious injuries and lost his home and family, sources said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Tambuze Marijani of Nangi village, Mayuge District, sustained a broken leg below the knee and other injuries requiring nearly two weeks of hospital treatment when Muslim relatives beat him on Jan. 4.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>On Dec. 31, Marijani attended a New Year\u2019s Eve church service in Bugweri District, and as the new year began, he and 14 others put their faith in Christ, the church pastor said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Upon returning home, Marijani joyfully told his wife about his conversion, he said. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI shared with my wife the joy of having received Christ as my Lord and Savior, but instead of my wife sharing in my joy, she was very upset,\u201d Marijani told Morning Star News.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>She left the following morning, Jan. 2, and returned on Jan. 3 with an Islamic divorce letter, he said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cBecause you joined a bad religion,\u201d she told him, \u201cyou are now an apostate, an infidel, and not part of the family \u2013 also, you cease to be a member of the Muslim community.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cThat night, my wife refused me entry to our bedroom,\u201d he said. \u201cI slept in the sitting room.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>On Jan. 4, while Marijani was working at his farm, he saw his older brother and other relatives arrive at his house at about 1:30 p.m., prompting him to leave the fields and return home, he said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cNearing my house, I saw people removing bricks from the house,\u201d Marijani told Morning Star News. \u201cAs I drew closer, I noticed that they were my relatives: Murshidi Waniyaye, Abdullah Hamba, Abdul Wamadu, and several others, including my wife.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>His older brother began insulting him, telling him he was a disgrace to the family, he said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cMy younger brother got hold of me, and there and then they began beating me with sticks,\u201d Marijani said. \u201cI screamed and shouted for help, and neighbors arrived and rescued me.\u201d<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>They rushed him to a clinic in Bwonda, and he was later transferred to Mayuge District Hospital, he said. He received treatment for the broken leg, injuries to his back, and chest pains before he was discharged on Jan. 16.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>His house was rendered uninhabitable, and Muslim relatives have taken his former wife and four children, ages 12, 10, 8, and 7, he said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>\u201cI do not know how I can survive without a family and being homeless,\u201d Marijani said.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Still fearing for his life as he continues to recover, he has gone into hiding. The church paid his medical bills, but he lacks money and doubts that he will be allowed to return to his land. Missing his children, he said he prayed he would see them again and that God would help him find a place to stay.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The attack was the latest of <a data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/morningstarnews.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3D7ec6d7eb2533a90581f839110%26id%3Dcebd0451a8%26e%3D0059ef0304&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1706130259663000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2ixxlTYwNXpQXn8lsQ7jjJ\" href=\"https:\/\/morningstarnews.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=7ec6d7eb2533a90581f839110&amp;id=cebd0451a8&amp;e=0059ef0304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">many<\/a> instances of persecution of Christians in Uganda that Morning Star News has documented.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Uganda\u2019s constitution and other laws provide for religious freedom, including the right to propagate one\u2019s faith and convert from one faith to another.
