Jean Carroll in her defamation case against former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Carroll claimed that the former president damaged her reputation by calling her a liar after she accused him of sexual assault.<\/p>\n<p>The verdict was delivered by a seven-man, two-woman jury Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Carroll\u2019s attorneys had reportedly requested $24 million in compensatory damages and \u201can unusually high punitive award.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In May, a separate jury awarded Carroll $5 million after it found Trump was not liable for rape, but responsible for sexually abusing Carroll and then defaming her by claiming she made it up.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreviously, I was known as simply as a journalist and had a column, and now I\u2019m known as the liar, the fraud, and the whack job,\u201d Carroll said in her testimony.<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s lawyer, Alina Habba, told jurors that Carroll was after fame and money by accusing Trump of such allegations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is far from over.
