{"id":6168,"date":"2024-01-21T18:44:24","date_gmt":"2024-01-21T13:14:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/21\/church-of-england-investigation-into-mike-pilavachi-finds-shortcomings-in-conduct\/"},"modified":"2024-01-21T18:44:24","modified_gmt":"2024-01-21T13:14:24","slug":"church-of-england-investigation-into-mike-pilavachi-finds-shortcomings-in-conduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/21\/church-of-england-investigation-into-mike-pilavachi-finds-shortcomings-in-conduct\/","title":{"rendered":"Church of England investigation into Mike Pilavachi finds shortcomings in conduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<header>\n<\/header>\n<figure class=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"imgPhoto \" layout=\"responsive\" src=\"https:\/\/christiantoday-4cf9.kxcdn.com\/en\/full\/75237\/mike-pilavachi.jpg?w=380&amp;h=380&amp;l=49&amp;t=55\" height=\"380\" width=\"380\"\/><figcaption class=\"caption\"> Mike Pilavachi founded Soul Survivor in 1993.<span class=\"credit\">Soul Survivor\/Facebook<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Mike Pilavachi&#8217;s conduct fell short &#8220;of that expected of a priest in the Church of England&#8221;, an investigation has concluded.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Soul Survivor founder was investigated by the Church&#8217;s National Safeguarding Team (NST) and the Diocese of St Albans over a complaint about his verbal interactions with a vulnerable person.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The complaint referred to after 2012 when he was ordained in the Church of England.<\/p>\n<p>The Church said that the vulnerable person had come forward and given &#8220;clear evidence of the harm done in their life&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Pilavachi, who no longer has authority to minister in the Church of England, was handed a written warning over the allegations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A bishop from outside the Diocese of St Albans was appointed to consider the allegation and the response from Mr Pilavachi,&#8221; the Church said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The result of the bishop&#8217;s determination was that whilst no further action would be taken on the main allegation, Mr Pilavachi&#8217;s conduct had nevertheless fallen short of that expected of a priest in the Church of England and in accordance with paragraph 163 of the Clergy Discipline Measure Code of Practice a written warning and advice has been issued to him.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The investigation upheld the decisions to take no further action and issue a warning and advice, saying they had been &#8220;properly made&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A separate joint investigation by the NST and Diocese of St Albans last year concluded that safeguarding allegations brought against Mr Pilavachi in relation to his ministry over 40 years were &#8220;substantiated&#8221;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script>\n            window.fbAsyncInit = function() {\n                FB.init({\n                    appId      : '105496396833914',\n                    status     : true,\n                    xfbml      : true,\n                    version    : 'v2.8'\n                });\n            };\n            (function(d, s, id) {\n                var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];\n                if (d.getElementById(id)) return;\n                js = d.createElement(s);
