Sarah Huckabee Sanders has signed an executive order designed to ban \u201cwoke\u201d and &#8220;anti-women&#8221; words from the state government, which she believes is necessary to ensure that women are no longer taking \u201ca back seat to political correctness.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5S5cX3nzfyE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">press conference<\/a> Thursday, Sanders, a Republican, announced she was signing an <a href=\"https:\/\/governor.arkansas.gov\/executive_orders\/executive-order-to-eliminate-woke-anti-women-words-from-state-government-and-respect-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">executive order<\/a> to \u201cEliminate Woke, Anti-Women Words From State Government and Respect Women.\u201d The executive order outlines a list of \u201cexclusionary and sexist terms\u201d that \u201cshall be replaced with accurate, female-affirming alternatives.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The executive order states that \u201call state offices, departments, boards, and commissions are prohibited from using exclusionary, sexist language in official state government business, effective immediately.\u201d It includes declarations that \u201cthere are things only women can do \u2014 like perform the miracle of birth\u201d and that \u201cgovernment should reject language that ignores, undermines, and erases women.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_video_container jeg_video_content\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders banning &#039;woke, anti-women&#039; words from state government\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Hv0UODDRaIs?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The executive order instructs state government offices to use the terms \u201cpregnant women\u201d or \u201cpregnant mom\u201d instead of \u201cpregnant people\u201d or \u201cpregnant person,\u201d \u201cbreastfeeding\u201d rather than \u201cchestfeeding,\u201d \u201cbreast fed\u201d as opposed to \u201cbody fed\u201d or \u201cperson fed,\u201d \u201cbreast milk\u201d instead of \u201chuman milk,\u201d \u201cbirth mom\u201d over \u201cbirthing person\u201d or \u201claboring person\u201d and \u201cwoman\u201d or \u201cwomen\u201d rather than \u201cmenstruating person,\u201d \u201cmenstruating people,\u201d \u201cbirth-giver,\u201d \u201cwomxn\u201d or \u201cwomyn.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Surrounded by about a dozen other women as she spoke to the media before signing the executive order, Sanders declared, \u201cWe are all here to say, frankly, that we\u2019ve had enough.\u201d Specifically, Sanders detailed how she and the women who joined her at the podium had seen \u201cenough trying to erase women and girls, enough denying our biological differences from men and enough of the craziness that is taking over our country.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The governor explained that because she serves as \u201cthe first woman and the first mother to serve as the governor of Arkansas,\u201d she \u201ccame into this role with a few pretty unique experiences,\u201d including giving birth to three children. \u201cThat experience underscored to me that a woman\u2019s perspective is important and fundamentally different from a man\u2019s,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sanders expressed disappointment that \u201cnowadays though, only conservatives seem to be making that point\u201d while \u201con the left, women have taken a back seat to political correctness.\u201d She cited the fact that \u201cthey\u2019re using nonsense words to erase women and girls and more importantly, to erase our voices and experiences\u201d as the primary example of the prioritization of political correctness.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Sanders condemned the \u201cnonsense terms that have cropped up in recent years\u201d as \u201cdemeaning to women,\u201d adding, \u201cit needs to stop.\u201d The use of phrases singled out by Sanders are often justified as part of an effort to appease men who want to identify as female or women who identify as male.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen specific instances that have happened in state government and been reported in other places in state government,\u201d she noted. When asked to provide specific examples, Sanders responded, \u201cIf there\u2019s one, is that not enough? How many times should a woman have to be insulted before we stand up and say \u2018we\u2019ve had it\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanders insisted that \u201cit shouldn\u2019t even take one time\u201d before reiterating, that \u201cI have seen one specific instance, and we\u2019ve had a number of other instances that have been reported to our office.\u201d She clarified that \u201cwoke\u201d words have been used by the state\u2019s Health Department.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not that they\u2019re offensive; it\u2019s that they are scientifically wrong, and that\u2019s a different thing,\u201d Sanders said. \u201cThere\u2019s something different about whether your feelings got hurt versus something that is just factually incorrect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sanders shared her belief that \u201cit is insulting to women to define them as something other than what they are and to take away experiences that are so specific to them that cannot be created just by saying them into existence.\u201d She defended her executive order as standing up for the \u201cdifference between what is right and what is wrong, what is factual and what is not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not just political correctness, it\u2019s literally the difference of what is accurate and what isn\u2019t,\u201d she proclaimed. Sanders asserted that in light of the federal government\u2019s embrace of \u201cwoke\u201d terminology, \u201cit is imperative for states to step up and actually defend women.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As Sanders alluded to in her press conference, the executive order is not the only action taken by her state to push back against LGBT ideology. Arkansas is one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lgbtmap.org\/equality-maps\/youth\/sports_participation_bans\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">23 states <\/a>that have banned trans-identified males from competing on women\u2019s sports teams. Supporters of such measures point to the biological differences between males and females that give men an advantage in sports as the justification for enacting them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usapowerlifting.com\/transgender-participation-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USA Powerlifting<\/a>, which has implemented a policy banning trans-identified males from competing in women\u2019s competitions, identifies \u201cincreased body and muscle mass, bone density, bone structure, and connective tissue\u201d as factors that give men an advantage over women in athletics. In addition to the fairness concerns posed by the biological differences between the sexes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christianpost.com\/news\/trans-swimmer-breaks-womens-records-after-swimmin-on-mens-team.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">real-world examples<\/a> of trans-identified men breaking women\u2019s sports records have also motivated states to act.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"article_credit\">\n<p>Ryan Foley is a reporter for The Christian Post.
