<\/source><\/picture>A football player is giving thanks to God for not being blinded in an accident where he suffered burns on his face. He’s since launched a new line of merchandise to raise awareness about the plight of burn injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Cleveland Browns football player David Njoku<\/a> declared that \u201cI give all the glory to God\u201d for surviving the accident when speaking to reporters on Friday. \u201cWhen it happened \u2026 my eyes were open,\u201d he recalled. \u201cI saw everything. I really should have been blinded.\u201d<\/p>\n David Njoku spoke today, said he\u2019s grateful to God to be alive.<\/p>\n Said his eyes were open when the whole thing happened and he\u2019s blessed to have his vision and his breath. #Browns<\/a>pic.twitter.com\/Cc6yxwUeQb<\/a><\/p>\n \u2014 Hayden Grove (@H_Grove) October 13, 2023<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Acknowledging that \u201cluckily I\u2019m not,\u201d Njoku reiterated that he was giving \u201call the glory to God.\u201d<\/p>\n The Browns\u2019 official website first noted that Njoku suffered burn injuries to his face and arm in a \u201chousehold accident\u201d in a Sept. 30 statement <\/a>announcing his addition to the injury list as his participation in the following day\u2019s game against the Baltimore Ravens remained \u201cquestionable.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Njoku alluded to his injuries in a Sept. 30 post<\/a> on X and suggested that he intended to play in the game anyway. \u201cThe flesh is weak,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSee u tomorrow #DawgPound.\u201d<\/p>\n The flesh is weak. He shared a picture of the injuries he sustained in an Instagram post<\/a> on Thursday. Speaking to reporters, he explained<\/a> that he shared the picture of his injured face after receiving \u201ca lot of messages from \u2026 other burn victims\u201d as well as \u201cnurses that have burn victims.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey were telling me how like everybody feels like embarrassed to show whatever so I wanted just to come out for them and show myself so \u2026 everyone might feel a little bit better about themselves,\u201d he added. \u201cAt the end of the day, things heal.\u201d<\/p>\n Last week, Njoku launched a new merchandise collection<\/a> called \u201cWithstand\u201d on MILLIONS. The company\u2019s website<\/a> characterizes MILLIONS as \u201ca unique platform built to help athletes make money and grow their brand and following.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Additionally, MILLIONS touts its services as combining \u201cthe world\u2019s best technologies to offer athletes a ton of value to build their brand, channel, and following through several products and services \u2014 no matter what stage of career\u201d an athlete is at. Njoku\u2019s MILLIONS collection amounts to an effort to \u201chelp bring awareness to an all too common issue and shed some light on an otherwise unfortunate incident.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cEvery purchase of Withstand on my MILLIONS.co profile will have a share of proceeds donated to help the American Burn Association,\u201d he asserted in an Instagram post unveiling the collection. Specifically, the proceeds raised from the clothing sales will go toward \u201csupporting burn care, prevention and research.\u201d<\/p>\n Items<\/a> available for purchase include hoodies and T-shirts featuring the phrase \u201cThe Flesh is Weak\u201d written on them, a separate set of hoodies and T-shirts with a picture depicting Njoku in a football jersey surrounded by fire and a third set of shirts with the word \u201cChief\u201d written on them, referring to Njoku\u2019s nickname.\u00a0<\/p>\n Even before his burn injuries made him thankful to be alive, Njoku has repeatedly identified himself as a practicing Christian. Both his Instagram profile<\/a> and his X profile<\/a> have the phrase \u201cI fear God\u201d written in all capital letters in the biography.\u00a0<\/p>\n Ryan Foley is a reporter for The Christian Post.
