Vanessa Kerry, the daughter of Biden\u2019s former climate envoy John Kerry, said at COP28 that public compliance in \u201cnet zero\u201d targets is \u201cno longer a choice.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement, made in December, has emerged in social media videos.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe climate crisis is a health crisis, and it\u2019s killing us,\u201d she says in the video. \u201cThe events of this year, which is said to be the hottest on record, have brought this painful truth into sharp focus.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cA study was released just a few days ago, that shows that more than 8 million people a year die from air pollution, more than in the entire Covid pandemic,\u201d she claimed. \u201cOne person dies every four seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo by the time I finish this sentence, another person will have died, and 61% of those deaths are directly attributable to fossil fuels.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo what is the solution? We can and must make different decisions,\u201d she added. We must accept that there is no other way forward than to phase out our reliance on fossil fuels. Simply mitigation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions \u2014 is no longer a choice.\u201d<\/p>\n

While global leaders have pushed \u201cnet zero\u201d carbon emissions and declaring<\/a> climate change as the \u201conly existential threat,\u201d Richard Lindzen, professor emeritus of atmospheric sciences at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) said<\/a>, \u201cIf all other things are kept constant, and you double CO2, you would get a little under one degree of warming.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lindzen, speaking on EpochTV\u2019s \u201cAmerican Thought Leaders,\u201d explained, \u201cYou have politicians saying, \u2018If it goes up another half degree, we\u2019re all going to boil.\u2019 You have people believing that, and never questioning if a half-degree would bring anything to a boil. If it really can, can I patent it, please?\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that the greenhouse effect is \u201cdue primarily to water vapor and clouds. CO2, methane, and nitrous oxide are minor, minor constituents. Roughly speaking, if all other things are kept constant and you double CO2, you would get a little under one degree of warming.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
