NBA star Jonathan Isaac criticized President Joe Biden over naming Sunday \u201cTransgender Day of Visibility\u201d on Easter Sunday, saying that the White House \u201cknow[s] exactly what they are doing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey want you to hate! This helps no one and only promotes division,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThey know exactly what they are doing.. we should be angry but shouldn\u2019t lose the spirit of what tomorrow means! Don\u2019t lose focus. Because He is risen there is hope for all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Isaac joined many other big figures in their disappointment with Biden. Trump\u2019s national press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, called the move \u201cappalling and insulting.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe call on Joe Biden\u2019s failing campaign and\u00a0the White House<\/u>\u00a0to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe (Sunday) is for one celebration only \u2014 the resurrection of Jesus Christ,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Biden White House has betrayed the central tenet of Easter \u2014 which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ,\u201d\u00a0House Speaker Mike Johnson\u00a0posted on X. \u201cBanning sacred truth and tradition\u2014while at the same time proclaiming Easter Sunday as \u2018Transgender Day\u2019\u2014is outrageous and abhorrent. The American people are taking note.\u201d<\/p>\n

Isaac garnered\u00a0widespread<\/a>\u00a0attention and scrutiny in 2020 when he chose to stand for the national anthem before games, even as every other member of his team knelt while wearing Black Lives Matter T-shirts.<\/p>\n

Isaac said at the time that to kneel would have been to throw support behind a movement that could not ultimately heal the nation\u2019s growing racial divide, or any other fundamental human problem.<\/p>\n

\u201cAround that time, my pastor had preached a message,\u201d Isaac said. \u201cThe message was about when Jesus was about to be taken by the Roman Guard, and Peter lunged forward and chopped off the man\u2019s ear, and Jesus stopped him, and he said, \u2018Those that live by the sword, will die by the sword.\u2019 And, ultimately that Jesus had a greater plan.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I decided to stand,\u201d he went on to say, \u201cIt wasn\u2019t entirely about the flag. It was just that moment of saying, \u2018I believe that the love of Jesus Christ is what is ultimately going to heal this world because it is what has healed me.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
