Social media platform TikTok has spent $2.1 million in television ads as the Senate is reviewing a bill that could force its parent company to sell the app.<\/p>\n
According to a report<\/a> from CNBC, TikTok is advertising in Nevada, Montana, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.<\/p>\n The ads show what people would do without the platform.<\/p>\n \u201cNo doubt that I would not have found the success that I have today without TikTok,\u201d a man says in the commercial<\/a>. <\/p>\n \u201cThink about the five million small business owners that rely on TikTok to provide for their families,\u201d another says.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have got to make enough noise about this so that they don\u2019t take away our voice,\u201d an individual states.<\/p>\n Earlier this month, the House of Representatives passed<\/a> a bill requiring Chinese company ByteDance to sell TikTok to an American company by a 352-65-1 vote, with 197 Republicans voting \u201cYea\u201d while 15 voted \u201cNay.\u201d<\/p>\n Among Democrats, 155 voted \u201cYea\u201d and 50 voted \u201cNay.\u201d<\/p>\n
