New York City officials have begun providing illegal immigrants prepaid debit cards.<\/p>\n
The prepaid cards will reportedly be used to purchase food and supplies for babies. Up to $350 will be put on the cards each week.<\/p>\n
According to the New York Post<\/a>, only 8 cards from Mobility Capital Finance were handed out, although 115 cards are expected to be provided by next week.<\/p>\n The pilot program will work with 460 migrants out of the thousands living in the city.<\/p>\n \u201cNot only will this provide families with the ability to purchase fresh food for their culturally-relevant diets and the baby supplies of their choosing, but the pilot program is expected to save New York City taxpayers more than $600,000 per month and $7 million per year,\u201d the city spokesperson told Fox News<\/a>. \u201cThe prepaid cards can be used exclusively at select stores to ensure the money is spent on food and baby supplies.\u201d<\/p>\n Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) criticized the move, saying, \u201cAmerican families can barely afford rent and groceries. But Democrats are giving out gift cards and free money to illegal aliens.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhere\u2019s the leadership?\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
