Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan imposed a gag order on Donald Trump as part of the Stormy Daniels hush money trial.<\/p>\n
Trump\u2019s statements<\/a> during the trial were \u201cthreatening, inflammatory, [and] denigrating,\u201d according to the judge.<\/p>\n \u201cSuch inflammatory extrajudicial statements undoubtedly risk impeding the orderly administration of this Court,\u201d Merchan added.<\/p>\n CNBC reported<\/a> that the \u201cgag order does not specifically bar Trump from criticizing the judge.\u201d<\/p>\n A Trump spokesperson told Newsweek<\/a> that the gag order prevents Trump from \u201cengaging in core political speech, which is entitled to the highest level of protection under the First Amendment.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWorst of all, the gag order violates the civil rights of over 100 million Americans who follow President Trump and have a First Amendment right to receive and listen to his speech,\u201d the spokesperson stated. \u201cAmerican voters have a fundamental right to hear the uncensored voice of the leading candidate for the highest office in the land.
