The violence that happened on January 6 is unacceptable. It doesn\u2019t represent our country. It certainly does not represent my party,\u201d McDaniel said during a Sunday interview with NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you attacked our Capitol and you have been abused and you\u2019ve been convicted, then that should stay,\u201d McDaniel continued.<\/p>\n<p>The former chairwoman said now that she\u2019s no longer on leadership for the RNC she gets to \u201cbe a little bit more\u201d herself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you\u2019re the RNC chair, you kind of take one for the whole team,\u201d McDaniel said. \u201cRight now, I get to be a little bit more myself. This is what I believe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think violence should be in our political discourse, Republican or Democrat. And I disagree with him on that,\u201d she continued. \u201cI agree with him on a whole host of other things. Let\u2019s close the border. Let\u2019s make sure we have good incomes for people. Let\u2019s make sure we do a lot of great things. But on that point, I don\u2019t think we should be freeing people who violently attacked Capitol Hill police officers and attacked the Capitol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Following McDaniel\u2019s interview, NBC host Chuck Todd had a warning for his bosses about hiring McDaniel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe is now a paid contributor by NBC news,\u201d Todd said. \u201cI have no idea whether any answer she gave to you was because she didn\u2019t want to mess up her contract. She wants us to believe that she was speaking for the RNC when the RNC was paying for it. So she has credibility issues that she still has to deal with. Is she speaking for herself or is she speaking on behalf of who\u2019s paying her? Once at the RNC, she did say that. Hey, I\u2019m speaking for the party. I get that that\u2019s part of the job.
