Democratic attorney general Brian Schwalb has dropped charges against Gold Star father\u00a0Steve Nikoui for disrupting Congress during\u00a0President Biden\u2019s State of the Union speech earlier this month.<\/p>\n
Report from The New York Post:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Steve Nikoui, 51, was\u00a0taken into custody by Capitol Police<\/a>\u00a0after he yelled, \u201cAbbey Gate!\u201d and \u201cSecond Battalion, First Marines!\u201d down at Biden, 81, during his speech earlier this month.<\/em><\/p>\n Nikoui, a guest of Rep. Brian Mast (R-Fla.) at the State of the Union, was seated in the gallery when he shouted the remarks.<\/em><\/p>\n Nikoui\u2019s son, Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, was one of 13 US service members killed by an ISIS-K suicide bomber outside Hamid Karzai International Airport on Aug. 26, 2021, as Kabul fell to the Taliban during the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n DC Attorney General Brain Schwalb\u2019s decision not to prosecute the Gold Star father was first reported by Fox News.<\/em><\/p>\n The DC AG\u2019s office noted cases of past protesters not being prosecuted in defending its decision to not prosecute Nikoui,\u00a0according to the outlet<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Schwalb\u2019s office did not respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Nikoui\u00a0has said\u00a0he did not intend to interrupt Biden\u2019s speech, but became frustrated after the president\u00a0mentioned slain Georgia nursing student Laken Riley,\u00a0who was allegedly killed by an \u201cillegal\u201d immigrant, but not his son, nor the 12 other US service members killed in the Abbey Gate blast.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
