{"id":1466,"date":"2023-09-09T00:53:44","date_gmt":"2023-09-09T00:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2023\/09\/09\/queens-final-days-a-peaceful-reflection-on-faith\/"},"modified":"2023-09-09T00:53:44","modified_gmt":"2023-09-09T00:53:44","slug":"queens-final-days-a-peaceful-reflection-on-faith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2023\/09\/09\/queens-final-days-a-peaceful-reflection-on-faith\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen&#8217;s Final Days: A Peaceful Reflection on Faith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"figure-image align-left left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christiantoday.co.in\/files\/cache\/image\/2\/36\/23694_w_375_519.jpg\" data-slug=\"dd26b4d17c91\" width=\"375\" height=\"519\"\/><figcaption class=\"caption\"><span class=\"photo-des\">Queen Elizabeth II: 1926-1922.<\/span> <span class=\"credit\">(Photo: Pixabay\/WikiImages)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The late <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christiantoday.com\/article\/queen.was.at.peace.and.reflecting.on.her.faith.in.final.days\/140723.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Queen<\/a> was at peace and spent her final days reflecting on her Christian faith, according to a Church leader who was with her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Friday marks the first anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II at Balmoral Castle in Scotland at the age of 96.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A guest at the Balmoral estate in the days before her death was the former Moderator of the Church of Scotland General Assembly, the Rt Rev\u00a0Dr Iain Greenshields.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He preached the sermon during the Queen&#8217;s final Sunday service before her death, at the nearby Crathie Kirk, and joined her for dinner at the royal residence.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to the Mail Online, he recalled her being mentally sharp but more frail than he had expected.<\/p>\n<p>He remembered the Queen being at peace but also thinking a great deal about her Christian faith.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It would be normal for a Moderator to talk about matters of faith but I was very interested in how much she wanted to talk about her own,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was her Platinum Jubilee year and so she was looking back. She had remarkable recall. She had no regrets and was very much at peace.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She also mentioned her father &#8211; George VI &#8211; and the great influence his faith had on her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He recalled a poignant moment when she went to the window and said &#8220;who would not want to be here&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She was in a very peaceful, private place. She was at peace,&#8221; he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following her death on 8 September 2022, Dr Greenshields preached the sermon during a service of thanksgiving for her life at St Giles&#8217;s Cathedral in Edinburgh, and attended her funeral at Westminster Abbey.<\/p>\n<p>King Charles and his wife Queen Camilla will be marking the anniversary by attending a service at Crathie Kirk.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty&#8217;s death and my Accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us,&#8221; the King said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&#038;version=v9.0&#038;appId=1115032055618182&#038;autoLogAppEvents=1\" nonce=\"IeYpY26o\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christiantoday.co.in\/news\/queen-was-at-peace-and-reflecting-on-her-faith-in-final-days.html\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Queen Elizabeth II: 1926-1922.
