{"id":1464,"date":"2023-09-08T23:53:01","date_gmt":"2023-09-08T23:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2023\/09\/08\/christian-doctor-who-evangelized-patient-cleared-of-serious-misconduct\/"},"modified":"2023-09-08T23:53:01","modified_gmt":"2023-09-08T23:53:01","slug":"christian-doctor-who-evangelized-patient-cleared-of-serious-misconduct","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2023\/09\/08\/christian-doctor-who-evangelized-patient-cleared-of-serious-misconduct\/","title":{"rendered":"Christian doctor who evangelized patient cleared of serious misconduct"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<figure class=\"figure-image align-left left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christiantoday.co.in\/files\/cache\/image\/2\/40\/24020_w_375_304.jpg\" data-slug=\"8e5d0e86d49f\" width=\"375\" height=\"304\"\/><figcaption class=\"caption\"><span class=\"\">(Photo: Christian Concern)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A Christian doctor who shared his faith with a vulnerable patient has been cleared of serious misconduct by a medical tribunal.<\/p>\n<p>The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service concluded, however, that Dr Richard Scott &#8220;overstepped the boundaries&#8221; when he prayed with the patient.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dr Scott saw the 19-year-old man at the Bethesda Medical Centre in Margate, Kent, on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.christiantoday.com\/article\/christian.doctor.who.shared.faith.with.patient.cleared.of.serious.misconduct\/140712.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">25 August 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the BBC, the patient has a history of\u00a0Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and was suffering with poor mental health at the time of his appointment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the consultation, Dr Scott is alleged to have talked about his faith and clasped the man&#8217;s hand in prayer before giving him a Bible.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dr Scott was brought before the tribunal after the patient&#8217;s mother complained to NHS England.<\/p>\n<p>The doctor, who has practised since 1983, told the tribunal that he engaged in a conversation about faith after receiving the patient&#8217;s consent.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The patient said that he felt &#8220;uneasy&#8221; when Dr Scott allegedly suggested he &#8220;reconnect&#8221; with God.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal concluded that although Dr Scott received consent to embark on the conversation, he &#8220;then overstepped the boundaries&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>It added, &#8220;Dr Scott&#8217;s actions did not cross the high threshold required to be considered serious misconduct.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dr Scott has been investigated in the past for offering to pray with patients and in 2012 received a warning letter from the General Medical Council (GMC).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal is considering whether Dr Scott should receive a second warning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&#038;version=v9.0&#038;appId=1115032055618182&#038;autoLogAppEvents=1\" nonce=\"IeYpY26o\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.christiantoday.co.in\/news\/christian-doctor-who-shared-faith-with-patient-cleared-of-serious-misconduct.html\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Photo: Christian Concern) A Christian doctor who shared his faith with a vulnerable patient has been cleared of serious misconduct by a medical tribunal.
