About time someone did something about\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Riley Gaines (@Riley_Gaines_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Riley_Gaines_\/status\/1768335572798456179?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 14, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The lawsuit, first reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefp.com\/p\/exclusive-female-athletes-sue-ncaa-transwomen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Free Press<\/a>, stems from the victory of transgender, biological male Lia Thomas, who won the 2022 NCAA Swimming Championship.<\/p>\n<p>According to the suit, both the NCAA and Georgia Tech violated Title IX. It also calls for the NCAA to remove awards given to transgender athletes in women\u2019s competitions.<\/p>\n<p>The suit also asks for damages \u201cfor pain and suffering, mental and emotional distress, suffering and anxiety, expense costs and other damages due to defendants\u2019 wrongful conduct.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit accuses the NCAA of \u201cdestroying female safe spaces in women\u2019s locker rooms by authorizing naked men possessing full male genitalia to disrobe in front of non-consenting college women.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One plaintiff, Kaitlyn Wheeler, said that she and her teammates were forced to change into their swimsuits in front of Thomas. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile you\u2019re doing this, you\u2019re exposed,\u201d Wheeler said. \u201cYou can\u2019t stand there and hold a towel around you while putting the suit on at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever in my 18-year career had I seen a man changing in the locker rooms.
