{"id":14179,"date":"2024-03-15T20:13:41","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:43:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/15\/john-piper-advises-parents-of-trans-kids-look-to-the-god-of-the-impossible\/"},"modified":"2024-03-15T20:13:41","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T14:43:41","slug":"john-piper-advises-parents-of-trans-kids-look-to-the-god-of-the-impossible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/15\/john-piper-advises-parents-of-trans-kids-look-to-the-god-of-the-impossible\/","title":{"rendered":"John Piper Advises Parents of Trans Kids: &#8216;Look to the God of the Impossible&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.swncdn.com\/via\/10106-john-piper.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Author and Desiring God founder John Piper recently addressed the topic of gender identity and offered counsel to parents with transgender children.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommunicate your love\u2014the love that is willing and ready to go anywhere, do anything, at any cost to your life for the sake of the life of your children,\u201d encouraged Piper during a recent podcast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desiringgod.org\/interviews\/is-my-child-transgender-because-of-me\">episode<\/a> of Ask Pastor John.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The episode, titled \u201cIs my child transgender because of me?\u201d\u201d begins with the statement: \u201cOne of the great anxieties that parents face is the fear of what our own sins could do to corrupt our kids.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, an anonymous father wrote to the podcast with a brief description of his family. He shared that he and his wife have four sons, two of whom \u201csuffer from so-called \u2018gender dysphoria.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have talked to our pastors and asked for prayer, but we feel so broken and so alone and so helpless in this season,\u201d the father wrote. \u201cWhat do we do to fight against the despair we face every day as failed parents? How did we fail them? Please help us, Pastor John. We are so torn and heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response, Piper outlinted 10 tips that parents can apply in this matter. For instance, he contended the parents to not \u201cassume you\u2019re decisively at fault.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe cannot draw a straight line from our own parenting to our children\u2019s sin or righteousness,\u201d Piper said, after citing from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblestudytools.com\/ezekiel\/passage\/?q=ezekiel+18:1-32\">Ezekiel 18:1-32<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/churchleaders.com\/news\/473005-john-piper-counsels-parents-of-trans-children.html\">Church Leaders<\/a>, he encouraged parents to \u201clook to the God of the impossible\u201d as well as to \u201cgrieve with hope.\u201d The theologian also suggested to \u201clove your children on God\u2019s terms\u201d and to be prepared \u201cto sacrifice your life while standing for what calls right and what God calls true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Piper also shared the principles of \u00a0\u201cSpeak truth to your child\u201d and \u201ccommunicate your love,\u201d while at the same time clarifying it does not mean any sort of nagging or harassment. Instead, he stressed the importance of patience and communication.<\/p>\n<p>Parents were also encouraged to \u201cpray without ceasing\u201d as a sign of trusting God even when things don\u2019t make sense. Piper also contended that God has the ability to help parents \u201cdiscern how often to address the issue\u201d, whether they have been cut off from communication with their child or there\u2019s some opening between them.<\/p>\n<p>He also emphasized the need to \u00a0\u201cmake the central gospel plain\u201d without nagging and encouraging the child that they can come home, whether physically or spiritually.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPress on with your ordinary life with brokenhearted but indomitable joy, and deny Satan the triumph of paralyzing you in your path of righteousness,\u201d Piper added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, let\u2019s pray for each other, and may the Lord bring the day when there is a tidal wave of grace that sweeps thousands of precious prodigals into the arms of their parents and of the Lord Jesus,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n<p><em>Image credit: John Piper Facebook<\/em><\/p>\n<hr\/>\n<p><em>Milton Quintanilla is a freelance writer and content creator.
