{"id":14173,"date":"2024-03-15T19:10:16","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T13:40:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/15\/report-calls-for-government-intervention-on-ai\/"},"modified":"2024-03-15T19:10:16","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T13:40:16","slug":"report-calls-for-government-intervention-on-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/15\/report-calls-for-government-intervention-on-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"Report Calls for Government Intervention on AI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_82\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>A State Department-funded <a href=\"https:\/\/assets-global.website-files.com\/62c4cf7322be8ea59c904399\/65e7779f72417554f7958260_Gladstone%20Action%20Plan%20Executive%20Summary.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> calls for the government to have stronger regulatory powers over artificial intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n<p>Gladstone AI\u2019s report voiced caution with the use of AI, and said the technology has \u201cglobal\u201d risks that are \u201cevolving quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, policymakers face a diminishing opportunity to introduce technically informed safeguards that can balance these considerations and ensure advanced AI is developed and adopted responsibly,\u201d the report said, noting that some labs have \u201cpublicly acknowledged these dangers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report called for government intervention over AI, claiming that the numerous national security concerns may be a larger threat than initially thought. \u201cGiven the growing risk to national security posed by rapidly expanding AI capabilities from weaponization and loss of control \u2014 and particularly, the fact that the ongoing proliferation of these capabilities serves to amplify both risks \u2014 there is a clear and urgent need for the U.S. government to intervene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>AI has the potential \u201cdestabilize global security,\u201d the report added. \u201cAs advanced AI matures and the elements of the AI supply chain continue to proliferate, countries may race to acquire the resources to build sovereign advanced AI capabilities.
