Gen. Steven Gilland <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westpoint.edu\/news\/community-news\/message-the-61st-superintendent#:~:text=West%20Point%20Teammates%3A-,Duty%2C%20Honor%2C%20Country%20is%20foundational%20to%20the%20United%20States%20Military,as%20graduates%20of%20West%20Point.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">recommended<\/a> the following motto: \u201cTo build, educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character committed to the Army Values and ready for a lifetime of service to the Army and Nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[O]ver the past year and a half, working with leaders from across West Point and external stakeholders, we reviewed our vision, mission, and strategy to serve this purpose. We believe our mission binds the Academy to the Army \u2014 the Army in which our cadets will serve,\u201d Gilland said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur updated mission statement focuses on the mission essential tasks of Build, Educate, Train, and Inspire the Corps of Cadets to be commissioned leaders of character, with the explicit purpose of being committed to the Army Values and Ready for a lifetime of service,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Army Values include Duty and Honor, and Country is reflected in Loyalty, bearing truth faith and allegiance to the U.S. Constitution, the Army, your unit, and other Soldiers. In the past century, West Point\u2019s mission has changed nine times. Many graduates will recall the mission statement they learned as new cadets did not include the motto, as Duty, Honor, Country was first added to the mission statement in 1998.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>West Point\u2019s previous mission statement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westpoint.edu\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">read<\/a>, \u201cTo educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the United States Army.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The hollowing of our military is progressing at breakneck speed. That gives me great concern,\u201d he shared with <a href=\"https:\/\/justthenews.com\/government\/security\/former-acting-dhs-secretary-chad-wolf-says-he-has-concerns-over-wokeness\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Just the News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>West Point also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dropbox.com\/s\/3p0l1jvkxn27jzb\/USMA%20Diversity%20Inclusion%20Plan%20%282020-2025%29.pdf?dl=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published<\/a>\u00a0a Diversity and Inclusion Plan for 2020-2025.<\/p>\n<p>According to the plan, \u201cWe have a growing divide between the military demographic and the American people, particularly within the Officer Corps.
