Wade, allowing states like ours to outlaw abortion even in cases of rape and incest. And as we speak, Christian nationalist billionaires are attempting to dismantle public education in the state of Texas and therefore dismantle democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me be clear, there is nothing Christian about Christian nationalism,\u201d Talarico stated. \u201cIt is the worship of power \u2014 political power, social power, economic power in the name of Christ, and it is a betrayal of Jesus of Nazareth,\u201d he said. \u201cJesus never asked us to kill police officers. Jesus never asked us to ban books, silence teachers or defund schools. Jesus never asked us to control women\u2019s bodies. Jesus never asked us to establish a Christian theocracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll he asked was that we love thy neighbor. Not just our Christian neighbors, not just our straight neighbors, not just our male neighbors, not just our white neighbors, not just our rich neighbors,\u201d the Democrat noted. \u201cWe are called to love all of our neighbors, and that is exactly the opposite of what Christian nationalism does in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThere is nothing Christian about Christian Nationalism.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9Xt3ZUD3cX\">pic.twitter.com\/9Xt3ZUD3cX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James Talarico (@jamestalarico) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/jamestalarico\/status\/1764803753469726916?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 5, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Talarico\u2019s assertion that January 6 protesters killed police officers is false, as no officers were killed in the line of duty because of the alleged insurrection. Instead, one officer who was believed to be deceased was seen alive and well. <\/p>\n<p>Tucker Carlson\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/americanfaith.com\/officer-brian-sicknick-seen-alive-in-jan-6-footage-after-democrats-claimed-he-was-killed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a>\u00a0last year that Officer Brian Sicknick was not killed by January 6 protestors, contrary to the mainstream narrative pushed by Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo prove the insurrection was deadly, propagandists pointed to the death of an officer called Brian Sicknick\u2026At first, they told the country that Officer Sicknick was murdered with a fire extinguisher,\u201d continued the former Fox News reporter.<\/p>\n<p>Carlson\u2019s video depicted Officer Sicknick \u201cwalking in the Capitol after he was supposedly murdered outside,\u201d the host continued.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker\u2019s condemnation of Christian nationalism comes as other left-wing individuals have criticized Christians who love their country.<\/p>\n<p>Following California pastor Jack Hibbs\u2019 speech at the House of Representatives, Representatives Jared Huffman (D-CA), Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and Mark Pocan (D-WI) <a href=\"https:\/\/americanfaith.com\/house-democrats-condemn-appearance-of-radical-christian-nationalist-pastor-jack-hibbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">led a letter<\/a> calling Hibbs a \u201cradical Christian Nationalist who helped fuel the January 6th insurrection and has a long record of spewing hateful vitriol toward non-Christians, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQ community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe should never have been granted the right to deliver the House\u2019s opening prayer on January 30, 2024,\u201d the letter read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen his opening prayer invoked \u2018holy fear\u2019 and \u2018repentance\u2019 for \u2018national sins,\u2019 these were allusions to the militant and fanatical agenda he preaches about the LGBTQ+ community, Jews, Muslims, and anyone who conflicts with his \u2018biblical worldview,\u2019\u201d the Democrats added.<\/p>\n<p>Mainstream media has also attempted to normalize disapproval of Christian nationalism, with Politico reporter Heidi Przybyla <a href=\"https:\/\/americanfaith.com\/reporter-claims-belief-in-god-given-rights-is-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sharing<\/a> with MSNBC that \u201cthe one thing that unites all of them \u2026 as Christian nationalists \u2013 not Christians by the way, because Christian nationalist is very different \u2013 is that they believe that our rights as Americans, as all human beings, don\u2019t come from any earthly authority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t come from Congress. They don\u2019t come to the Supreme Court. They come from God,\u201d Przybyla said, expressing what she considers to be foolish beliefs of Christian nationalists.<\/p>\n<p>Christian organizations then <a href=\"https:\/\/americanfaith.com\/christians-demand-apology-after-reporter-smears-the-christian-faith\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sent<\/a> a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/709548052\/Politico-Letter-14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a>\u00a0to Politico demanding an apology for Przybyla\u2019s statement, explaining that the reporter \u201cdemonstrated a disqualifying lack of knowledge of the United States of America\u2019s founding documents and a profoundly prejudicial view toward American religious groups.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEqually concerning is Ms. Przybyla\u2019s smearing of the Christian faith reflected in her comments,\u201d the letter added. \u201cHer statements constituted an attempt to spread misinformation about Christians by creating the perception that they hold unique beliefs that pose a distinct and, in her words \u2018extremist,\u2019 threat to our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>                    <!--begin code --><\/p>\n<p>                    <!--end code --><\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/americanfaith.com\/texas-democrat-says-christian-nationalism-is-a-betrayal-of-jesus\/\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Texas state lawmaker James Talarico (D) accused Christian nationalists of betraying Jesus.
