A man actively involved in a whistleblower lawsuit against Boeing was found dead inside his vehicle from \u201cself-inflicted\u201d injuries.<\/p>\n
John Barnett, who worked for Boeing for 32 years, came forward with concerns regarding oxygen masks and other issues.<\/p>\n
According to Barnett, 25% of masks would not work in an emergency.<\/p>\n
Barnett told the BBC<\/a> that workers had been \u201cdeliberately fitting sub-standard parts to aircraft on the production line,\u201d the outlet reported.<\/p>\n Amid an effort to get new aircraft built, the assembly process was rushed. \u201cHe said in some cases, sub-standard parts had even been removed from scrap bins and fitted to planes that were being built to prevent delays on the production line,\u201d BBC noted.<\/p>\n Despite notifying managers of the issue, nothing was done to change the process. Boeing instead denied Barnett\u2019s concerns.<\/p>\n The news of Barnett\u2019s death comes as a United Airlines Boeing 737\u00a0went off\u00a0the runway and got stuck<\/a> in the grass at the George W. Bush Airport in Houston, Texas. Similarly, a plane\u00a0departing\u00a0from San Francisco International Airport lost a tire then fell to the ground\u00a0and damaged vehicles in a parking lot.<\/p>\n Earlier this year, the door of an Alaska Airlines flight fell<\/a> off. \u201cThis incident should have never happened and it cannot happen again,\u201d the FAA said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cFAA formally notified Boeing that it is conducting an investigation to determine if Boeing failed to ensure completed produces conformed to its approved design and were in a condition for safe operation in compliance with FAA regulations.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis investigation is a result of an incident on a Boeing Model 737-9 MAX where it lost a \u2018plug\u2019 type passenger door and additional discrepancies,\u201d the statement added. \u201cBoeing\u2019s manufacturing practices need to comply with the high safety standards they\u2019re legally accountable to meet.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
