{"id":13465,"date":"2024-03-11T01:03:31","date_gmt":"2024-03-10T19:33:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/11\/border-patrol-prohibited-from-washington-school-district-children-traumatized\/"},"modified":"2024-03-11T01:03:31","modified_gmt":"2024-03-10T19:33:31","slug":"border-patrol-prohibited-from-washington-school-district-children-traumatized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/11\/border-patrol-prohibited-from-washington-school-district-children-traumatized\/","title":{"rendered":"Border Patrol Prohibited from Washington School District, Children &#8216;Traumatized&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_82\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>A school district in Spokane, Washington, voted to prohibit Border Patrol agents from its schools, claiming they would create distress among children.<\/p>\n<p>The decision comes after members of a group, Latinos En Spokane, said children could be \u201ctraumatized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Executive Director of Latinos In Spokane, Jennyfer Mesa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spokesman.com\/stories\/2024\/mar\/06\/spokane-public-schools-bans-border-patrol-agents-f\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told<\/a> The Spokesman Review, \u201cThey could be targeted as immigrants because they have an accent, or if they\u2019re asked something about their parents, you know, that could be a stressful situation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese fears, these stressors create PTSD in students and families who have had the experience, whether it\u2019s a family separation or concerns about another member of the family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEspecially having an agent at your safe space \u2013 schools are safe spaces for students and families,\u201d Mesa added. \u201cThis is where we come to learn.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chief Patrol Agent Lloyd Easterling of the Spokane Sector wrote on X, \u201cIt is unfortunate that the Spokane Public Schools Board has taken this stance against Customs and Border Protection.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He shared a statement from Border Patrol\u2019s Spokane sector, which read, \u201cWhen agents and officers attend events at schools they are merely there for educational purposes, at the invitation of the school, and not to conduct immigration enforcement activities. Agents and officers from CBP attend countless events at schools throughout the nation \u2013 without controversy. CBP personnel work tirelessly day in and day out to protect our nation from a variety of threats to include terrorists and dangerous narcotics.
