Title VII calls for employers to make \u201c\u2018reasonable\u2019 accommodations for religious employees unless the accommodation presents an \u2018undue hardship\u2019 on the employer,\u201d Liberty Counsel explained, describing guidance set by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eeoc.gov\/wysk\/what-you-should-know-about-covid-19-and-ada-rehabilitation-act-and-other-eeo-laws#L\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">guidance<\/a>, one\u2019s religious belief is \u201clargely a matter of individual credibility\u201d and is \u201cusually not in dispute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The EEOC <a href=\"https:\/\/s3.documentcloud.org\/documents\/23800723\/eeoc-v-trinity-health-michigan.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sued<\/a> the hospital, arguing that it showed \u201creckless indifference\u201d to the applicant\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p>Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver said of the settlement, \u201cFederal law requires employers to accommodate sincerely held religious beliefs unless the employer can show that doing so will result in an undue hardship.
