Ronald Reagan\u2019s famous mantra was\u00a0Peace through Strength.<\/p>\n

It was the Gipper\u2019s way of presenting military might as the best approach to protect America\u2019s freedom, particularly from foreign aggressors.<\/p>\n

Today\u2019s woke apostles have a mantra of their own, albeit an unspoken one:\u00a0Peace through Conformity.<\/p>\n

The citizen is offered the\u00a0veneer of harmony, but solely on the condition that he accept as\u00a0true\u00a0the vapid ideology being foisted upon him.<\/p>\n

Bake the cake \u2026 or else.<\/p>\n

Chant \u201cBlack Lives Matter\u201d\u2026 or else.<\/p>\n

Put your pronouns on Twitter (X) \u2026 or else.<\/p>\n

This is how the totalitarian mind works.<\/p>\n

It advances its ideological aims through force, threats and propaganda \u2014 especially propaganda. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

More than four decades ago the anti-communist statesman\u00a0V\u00e1clav Havel<\/a>\u00a0skillfully identified the fragility of this worldview and offered a prescription to ensure its demise.<\/p>\n

Although the times and issues are different from Havel\u2019s era, the Marxist compulsion for control remains the trademark of any progressive movement.<\/p>\n

In this respect, Havel\u2019s insights provide us with a useful tutorial on how to \u201crevolt\u201d against an immoral \u201csystem.\u201d<\/p>\n

The lesson is both simple and practical.<\/p>\n

In his acclaimed\u00a0essay<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThe Power of the Powerless,\u201d Havel introduces readers to a grocery store manager who hangs a \u201cWorkers of the world, unite!\u201d banner in the window to accompany the fruits and vegetables that are available for sale.<\/p>\n

Havel then asks a series of questions regarding the sign:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cWhy does [the manager] do it? What is he trying to communicate to the world? Is he genuinely enthusiastic about the idea of unity among the workers of the world? Is his enthusiasm so great that he feels an irrepressible impulse to acquaint the public with his ideals? Has he really given more than a moment\u2019s thought to how such a unification might occur and what it would mean?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The manager by all accounts is \u201cindifferent to the semantic content of the slogan on exhibit,\u201d writes Havel.<\/p>\n

In fact, \u201cindividuals need not believe all these mystifications, but they must behave as though they did, or they must at least tolerate them in silence \u2026 they must live within a lie.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other words: Peace through conformity.<\/p>\n

What happens, though, when the manager stops tolerating these \u201cmystifications\u201d and refuses to put up the sign?<\/p>\n

It is at this moment, Havel believes, that the \u201cpowerless\u201d begin to reestablish their influence within an unjust structure:<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cHe has shattered the world of appearances, the fundamental pillar of the system. He has upset the power structure by tearing apart what holds it together. He has demonstrated that living a lie is living a lie. He has broken through the exalted facade of the system and exposed the real, base foundations of power \u2026He has shown everyone that it is possible to live within the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We find ourselves navigating a similar conviction today, as a growing number of Americans realize that\u00a0it is possible to live within the truth\u00a0against the radicalism of the LGBTQ+ lobby and other woke activists.<\/p>\n

But unlike Havel\u2019s shop manager under Soviet oppression\u00a0living within the truth\u00a0is far easier for us to carry out. \u00a0<\/p>\n

In short, we can just take our business \u2026 elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Enter Bud Light and Disney.<\/p>\n

Bud Light inexplicably\u00a0partnered<\/a>\u00a0with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney, going so far as to make Mr. Mulvaney a \u201ccommemorative\u201d beer can to highlight his \u201cone year\u201d of \u201cgirlhood.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bud Light\u2019s customer base responded by\u00a0living within the truth\u00a0that Mr. Mulvaney cannot experience girlhood for even a day, let alone for an entire year.<\/p>\n

So these customers opted to buy a different beer.<\/p>\n

Now, after\u00a020 years<\/a>\u00a0of being America\u2019s top-selling beer, the Anheuser-Busch brand has\u00a0fallen<\/a>\u00a0to second place.<\/p>\n

In an act of desperation, Bud Light has started\u00a0giving away<\/a>\u00a0\u201cNational Football League Sunday Ticket subscriptions or gift cards to the NFL\u2019s store\u201d in the hopes of boosting depressed sales.<\/p>\n

Disney is likewise suffering from self-inflicted wounds.<\/p>\n

For decades parents of all political stripes have trusted the House of Mickey\u00a0to provide family-friendly programming to children.<\/p>\n

Disney elected to squander that trust by moving their product into the realm of a \u201cnot-at-all-secret gay agenda,\u201d as one executive\u00a0infamously<\/a>\u00a0put it.<\/p>\n

This is why \u201cLightyear,\u201d the latest \u201cToy Story\u201d movie,\u00a0features<\/a>\u00a0a lesbian relationship and why the \u201cFairy Godmother\u2019s Apprentice\u201d at Disneyland may be a\u00a0creepy<\/a>\u00a0dude in a dress.<\/p>\n

Or why ticketholders are no longer\u00a0welcomed<\/a>\u00a0with \u201cladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,\u201d but with the androgynous greeting \u201cdreamers of all ages\u201d instead.<\/p>\n

What Disney has dubbed \u201ca campaign of inclusivity and tolerance\u201d is nothing more than an attempt to usurp the moral authority of the family on the topics of gender and sexuality.<\/p>\n

And parents have had enough.<\/p>\n

They have resolved to\u00a0live\u00a0within the truth\u00a0that men can never be women, no matter how much tissue is stuffed into a bra.<\/p>\n

As a result, moms and dads are exploring\u00a0alternative<\/a>\u00a0forms of entertainment for their kids, while Disney is left learning the biblical principle of sowing and reaping.<\/p>\n

Not only is the company\u00a0bleeding<\/a> digital subscribers, they have recently\u00a0lost<\/a>\u00a0an estimated $2 billion at the box office and\u00a0attendance<\/a>\u00a0at their theme parks has plummeted.<\/p>\n

The popular phrase\u00a0Go Woke, Go Broke\u00a0is broad simplification to be sure, but it does convey a fundamental reality: the American consumer has options.<\/p>\n

More than ever there is a\u00a0parallel<\/a>\u00a0economy expanding inside the country where everyday folks are using the power of the purse as their primary vehicle to \u201clive within the truth\u201d and repudiate lies.<\/p>\n

Of course, we can\u2019t boycott every woke company.<\/p>\n

Yet as the Bud Light and Disney episodes demonstrate (and\u00a0Target<\/a>), there are a few big fish that we can fry as an example.<\/p>\n

If corporations are going to use their product line to impose woke culture, that\u2019s their choice.<\/p>\n

We, on the other hand, are under no obligation to support any business that hates our values.<\/p>\n

In fact, we\u00a0should\u00a0make it\u00a0economically painful\u00a0for them to hate our values.<\/p>\n

As V\u00e1clav Havel observed, \u201cLiving within the truth [is] \u2026 an attempt to regain control over one\u2019s own sense of responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

You see \u2014 simple and practical.<\/p>\n\n
