It’s become a “kitchen table” subject. On Tuesday, Monmouth University and Gallup released polling results that placed illegal immigration in first place as the most important issue in the U.S.

Contrary to the regurgitated rhetoric by the federal government, American’s are concerned about the brokenness of the federal immigration system and the response, or lack thereof, by the Biden Administration. Monmouth reported that overall, 61% of Americans see illegal immigration as a “very serious problem.” The numbers of Republicans top the list at 91%, but the telling tale are the 58% of Independents and 41% of Democrats who align with the Republican majority.

Gallup cited illegal immigration as the most significant issue facing the nation and it had surged past the government as the number one problem in the last two months – jumping from 20% to 28% and zooming beyond the economy and inflation. Gallup’s finding cited the government as the number one problem from January to November of 2023. Now, illegal immigration has taken the lead. According to Gallup’s findings the last time illegal immigration topped the list was in July of 2014 and again in July and November of 2018.

Monmouth also found that for the first time most Americans (53%) favor building the border wall, while 46% oppose the idea. By contrast, 60% of American’s told the same pollster in 2017 they opposed a border wall, while 35% favored the construction, as reported by the New York Post. There’s no question that the system is broken, but the current administration has not presented a remedy but rather an ironclad defense for the brokenness.

Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany recently posted on social media that he attempted to inspect one of the nongovernmental organizations (NGO) in Arizona and was flatly denied access, received no information, was accused of trespassing, even though he’s a member of Congress with oversight. He informed the “manager” of the facility and the deputy sheriff he was going to call for a hearing by the House Judiciary to investigate the operation.

Tiffany also shared infrared drone footage of an NGO camp in the Coranoado National Forest near Tucson, Arizona, filled with illegal immigrants. Tiffany noted that the Biden Administration’s use of public lands to support illegal immigration is another dip into American wallets, since taxpayer dollars support public lands.

The Christian News Journal obtained photographs from a confidential source that indicated illegal immigration and human smuggling are expected in the Coronado Forest. The photographed sign is located just south of Sasabe, Arizona. National forests are public lands. According to the forest service website, permits and passes are required to access public lands for commercial events, research and collection, recreation, and forest products.

Jaeson Jones, Newsmax Border Correspondent and retired Texas Department of Public Safety Captain, shared footage Tuesday on X, formerly Twitter, of a cartel forward camp just south of Arivaca, Arizona. The camp was rife with AK-47’s and overstuffed backpacks, likely filled with fentanyl, but Jones indicated that wasn’t the focus. He explained how the cartels have “operational control” of the border, pointing out the handheld radios the cartel members carried.

“This is the life’s blood of these guys,” he said. “This is how they move and know where everyone is at all times, using 24-7, 365 encrypted communications.”

Jones added that the positions are fortified. The cartels are dug-in on top of a mountain, a perfect vantage point for watching rival cartels, U.S. law enforcement and any other organization or individual within binoculars or drones line of sight, such as the NGO’s from Congressman Tiffany’s post.

James O’Keefe, founder and principal journalist of O’Keefe Media Group (OMG), along with other undercover journalists recently infiltrated a No More Deaths encampment outside of Arivaca. Arizona. According to the Daily Wire, the encampment is operated by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson, a tax-exempt non-profit organization. O’Keefe and another journalist posed as property surveyors, while “Cesar,” an illegal immigrant working undercover with O’Keefe, gained access to the camp’s interior.

O’Keefe’s outlet noted the actions of the so-called “humanitarian aid group” were more aligned with a human trafficking operation than a humanitarian nonprofit. For example, O’Keefe’s undercover immigrant was held at gunpoint by individuals from “Sonora and Tijuana.” Both locations are notorious for cartel activity. You can watch O’Keefe’s full report here.

Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, recently posted on X that a new “sanctuary church” had stepped in and posted the $15,000 bond for 24-year-old Yohenry Brito, the illegal Venezuelan immigrant who participated in the Times Square beating of two New York Police officers earlier this month.

Rugg reported the Good Samaritan Lutheran Church pastor Rev. Juan Ruiz said:

“Our church is basically a sanctuary. We assume that people are innocent until they are proven otherwise.” The pastor added there was more to the story than what was being publicized.

The connection between illegal immigrant criminal activity and humanitarian organizations like No More Deaths, whose X homepage touts their motto – humanitarian aid + solidarity in the Sonoran borderlands | against militarization and for the free movement of people – are becoming indelibly clear.

A Border Patrol agent was recently assaulted in the Tucson sector while attempting to thwart a human smuggling event where a cloned Border Patrol vehicle was reportedly involved. The driver was a U.S. citizen, attempting to smuggle 11 illegal immigrants deeper into the U.S. He’s now facing criminal assault charges.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed recently, three Metropolitan Police Department officers in Washington, D.C. were shot by an illegal immigrant when they tried to serve a warrant for animal cruelty. Stephan Rattigan is an illegal immigrant from Jamacia who had been deported previously and returned, as reported by the Washington Times.

ICE also indicated a 2-year-old boy was shot and killed in Maryland by an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who’d been ordered deported but was still on the loose. Nilson Noel Trejo-Granados had been arrested by Maryland’s Montgomery County twice in the last year. ICE had requested “detainers” to hold Trejo-Granados for pickup and deportation processing, but the county defied both. During a shoot-out on Feb. 8th, the toddler, Jeremy Poou-Caceres, was caught in the crossfire and killed.

Last week, Laken Riley, a University of Georgia nursing student was found dead and an illegal immigrant was arrested for her murder, accruing to Breitbart News. Riley’s killer had entered the U.S. and was allowed to remain while he pursued his immigration case, as reported by Yahoo News. Riley is the latest in a string of American deaths attributed to illegal immigrants.

In the words of Elon Musk, “This is empathy for one person at the expense of empathy for all.” Musk was referring to Rugg’s comments on Brito’s release.

Robyn Spradlin is a freelance journalist working as a contributor for Christian News Journal covering news and politics on the national and state levels.
