Politico reporter Heidi Przybyla appeared on MSNBC, claiming that the beliefs of \u201cChristian nationalists\u201d are a problem, namely, their belief that rights come from God.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe one thing that unites all of them \u2026 as Christian nationalists \u2013 not Christians by the way, because Christian nationalist is very different \u2013 is that they believe that our rights as Americans, as all human beings, don\u2019t come from any earthly authority. They don\u2019t come from Congress. They don\u2019t come to the Supreme Court. They come from God.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here @MSNBC<\/a> helpfully makes it clear their disdain for Christians in America.<\/p>\n

She says that if you believe that your rights come from God, you aren\u2019t a Christian, you are a Christian nationalist.<\/p>\n

She added that \u201cmen\u201d are \u201cdetermining what God is telling them,\u201d to stand against abortion, gay marriage, and other progressive issues.<\/p>\n

So I wanted to pull the more extended clip of this because surely the reporter clarified. But actually, it gets worse. She confuses mainline and mainstream evangelicalism (the former are liberal denominations). Przybyla\u2019s statements were met with widespread criticism.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat the state gives the state can take away,\u201d wrote<\/a> Jordan B. Peterson. \u201cWhat God gives the state takes at its moral peril. Sincerely, The prophets of old.\u201d<\/p>\n

Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) said<\/a>, \u201cImagine believing your rights come \u2018from Congress.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Theology professor Andrew T. Walker called<\/a> the reporter\u2019s ideas a \u201ccivics failure, a talent failure, an intelligence failure, a historical failure, an ethics failure.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShall I keep going?\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Przybyla attempted to explain her comments on X, writing, \u201cWhile there are different wings of Christian Nationalism, they are bound by their belief that our rights come from God. If you are Hindu, Jewish etc, this might help you understand the next part of my point, which is they are using this for a man-made policy agenda.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c[W]hich distinguishes this from other Christians who leave these God-given rights at our inherent right to \u201cLife, liberty and the pursuit of happiness\u201d \u2014 vs banning abortion, contraception etc,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n
