Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, (D-NY), was harassed by hecklers while speaking at an event in Queens last week. <\/p>\n
\u201cMy name is Jonathan David Rinaldi and I\u2019m running for\u00a0Congress\u00a0against AOC, the Green New Deal is a scam,\u201d\u00a0one heckler shouted. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re giving the NYCHA apartments away, they\u2019re giving illegal aliens $10,000 a day\u2026 I want you to debate me AOC, debate me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
NYCHA, the New York City Housing Authority, is an agency that oversees the city\u2019s public housing projects and Rinaldi\u00a0reported to Fox News that he believes lawmakers are trying to move illegal immigrants into the developments at the expense of citizens. \u00a0 <\/p>\n
\u201cSecure the border now,\u201d another man yelled at the congresswoman.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou haven\u2019t said one word about violent Venezuelan migrants, illegals.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t care, all you care about is illegal aliens and their votes. You don\u2019t care about your constituents.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all you care about, you\u2019re a disgrace.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have seen the voices that are anti-immigrant in this country are very very loud but they are very very few and we have to look around and realize how many of us are here in support of our neighbors and an acknowledgment of the fact that virtually all of us are descendants of immigrants, or indigenous people, or enslaved people,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez said during the event. <\/p>\n
