Police chief Jeffrey L. Clark at the University of Georgia revealed the man accused of killing nursing student Laken Hope Riley on campus, an illegal immigrant from Venezuela. <\/p>\n
Clark announced Jose Antonio Ibarra was arrested on charges including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, kidnapping, hindering a 911 call, and concealing the death of another.<\/p>\n
The chief said he believed the attack was a \u201ccrime of opportunity\u201d and that the suspected killer had no known connection to the victim nor was he a student at the college.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now I don\u2019t know his full status,\u201d he said. \u201cHe is not a citizen of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile the perpetrator\u2019s legal status is unclear, if the Chief\u2019s statement is accurate and that he is a Venezuelan migrant \u2014 potentially admitted under the continuing \u2018special status\u2019 program \u2014 it is past time to recognize the obvious: Maduro has taken a page from Castro\u2019s book and is emptying his criminals into the U.S., and we are holding the door open for them,\u201d Paul Mauro, a retired NYPD inspector, said.<\/p>\n
