{"id":11183,"date":"2024-02-24T03:15:45","date_gmt":"2024-02-23T21:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/24\/cbs-seizes-hunter-biden-research-from-former-reporter\/"},"modified":"2024-02-24T03:15:45","modified_gmt":"2024-02-23T21:45:45","slug":"cbs-seizes-hunter-biden-research-from-former-reporter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/24\/cbs-seizes-hunter-biden-research-from-former-reporter\/","title":{"rendered":"CBS Seizes Hunter Biden Research from Former Reporter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_82\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>After reporter Catherine Herridge was laid off from CBS News, the network seized files about her research into Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The research may contain the identities of confidential sources and conversations with lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>Sources familiar with the matter told <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/02\/22\/business\/cbs-seizes-confidential-files-of-fired-reporter-pursuing-hunter-biden-laptop-story-in-unprecedented\/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_campaign=nypost&amp;utm_source=twitter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New York Post<\/a> that the move is \u201cunprecedented\u201d and \u201cextraordinary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey never seize documents\u201d when a reporter is let go, one source said. \u201cThey want to see what damaging documents she has.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A representative for CBS told The Post that the network has \u201crespected her request to not go through the files, and out of our concern for confidential sources, the office she occupied has remained secure since her departure,\u201d adding, \u201cWe are prepared to pack up the rest of her files immediately on her behalf \u2013 with her representative present as she requested.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Law professor Jonathan Turley wrote in <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/opinion\/campaign\/4481433-cbs-faces-uproar-after-seizing-investigative-journalists-files\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Hill<\/a> that he spoke \u201cconfidentially with current and former CBS employees who have stated that they could not recall the company ever taking such a step before.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A former CBS manager shared with Turley that he \u201cnever heard of anything like this,\u201d noting that journalists take their files with them upon departure.<\/p>\n<p>Herridge currently faces possible contempt charges for failing to comply with U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper\u2019s demand to reveal how she knew of a federal probe into a Chinese American scientist.
