{"id":11021,"date":"2024-02-23T01:31:22","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T20:01:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/23\/federal-government-spent-8-5-million-to-create-podcasts\/"},"modified":"2024-02-23T01:31:22","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T20:01:22","slug":"federal-government-spent-8-5-million-to-create-podcasts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cccfornews.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/23\/federal-government-spent-8-5-million-to-create-podcasts\/","title":{"rendered":"Federal Government Spent $8.5 Million to Create Podcasts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The federal government spent $8.5 million of taxpayer money to create podcasts promoting left-wing causes, according to a report obtained by <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/02\/21\/us-news\/us-taxpayers-forked-over-8-5m-for-government-produced-podcasts-left-wing-agitprop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The spending, first discovered by taxpayer watchdog <a href=\"https:\/\/www.openthebooks.com\/new-york-post-us-taxpayers-forked-over-85m-for-government-produced-podcasts-left-wing-agitprop\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OpenTheBooks.com<\/a>, revealed that $8,535,556 has been provided to create 58 podcasts between February 2020 and September 2023.<\/p>\n<p>During that same period, the government spent $323.7 million on numerous other projects including the podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the podcasts were largely funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), operating on a combined budget of $207 million. Some of the topics covered in the podcasts included history, art, literature, science, languages, and religion.<\/p>\n<p>One podcast funded by the entities focuses on Southern history and features an <a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordamerican.org\/pointssouth\/episodes\/bedfellows-forever\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">episode<\/a> titled, \u201cBedfellows Forever: How 19th-century male romantic friendships queer our understanding of historical masculinity.\u201d The episode\u2019s host is described as \u201cgrappling with how to define his own relationship with his best friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More than $200,000 was provided for an <a href=\"https:\/\/subtitlepod.com\/the-little-pronoun-that-could\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">episode<\/a> of a podcast discussing a \u201crelatively new, gender-neutral pronoun which challenged Swedish grammar norms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe use of hen tapped into a conversation the country was already having about gender and equality,\u201d the episode\u2019s description continues. \u201cCan the introduction of one word make a difference in changing societal views?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another podcast <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brainson.org\/page\/coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">targeted<\/a> children with COVID-19 content.<\/p>\n<p>One <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/purple-royale\/id1466253485\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">podcast<\/a>, funded by the State Department, seeks to address \u201cissues and stories affecting trans and intersex lives in Zimbabwe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>OpenTheBooks founder Adam Andrzejewski told The Post, \u201cWe pay plenty of taxes \u2014 from income to inheritance to capital gains. But who knew we were paying a podcast tax?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added that \u201cAmericans are accustomed to getting untold hours of free content through podcast platforms, and the federal government should stay out of the podcast content business.
