By grounding your decisions in biblical principles, you can make choices that reflect God\u2019s will. Then you can experience the peace<\/a> and joy<\/a> that come from living the life God wants for you.<\/p>\n

Here are 7 biblical truths to guide your decision-making process:<\/p>\n

1. Love God above All Else<\/h2>\n

This foundational truth points you toward God\u2019s will. Jesus affirms this truth when he says in Matthew 22:37-38<\/a>: \u201c\u2026 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.\u201d<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re facing an important decision, prioritize your love for God above worldly desires.<\/p>\n

2. Love Your Neighbors as Yourself<\/h2>\n

Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.\u201d Finally, as you seek wisdom for your decisions, ask trustworthy and caring people you know to pray for you.<\/p>\n

4. Don’t Be Afraid<\/h2>\n

In Isaiah 41:10<\/a>, God assures you: \u201cSo do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.\u201d God calls you to trust in his promises so you can overcome fear with faith.<\/p>\n

When you\u2019re facing uncertainty that is fueling worry as you\u2019re trying to make decisions, ask God to help you fight anxiety. Make an intentional choice to trust God\u2019s leading– despite feeling afraid–and you\u2019ll discover that God will help you overcome fear as you move forward with faith.<\/p>\n

Psalm 27:1<\/a> asks wise questions: \u201cThe Lord is my light and my salvation–whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life–of whom shall I be afraid?\u201d When you\u2019re confronted with a daunting decision, remember God\u2019s wonderful goodness and power, and let that inspire you to choose faith over fear. The only healthy fear is awe for God.<\/p>\n

Romans 12:6-8<\/a> declares: \u201cWe have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.\u201d<\/p>\n

As 1 Peter 4:10-11<\/a> encourages you: \u201cEach of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God\u2019s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. In Matthew 18:21-22<\/a>, Jesus instructs his disciple Peter to forgive others not just 7 times, but 77 times, which represents an unlimited amount of forgiveness. You can always rely on God to empower you to forgive, but first, you must choose forgiveness in all situations.<\/p>\n
