We place ourselves among these poor so as to live our faith and transform our understanding of what constitutes more just relationships between peoples, countries, and economies.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paxton announced the lawsuit in a statement on X. \u201cToday, I\u2019m suing to end NGO\u2019s operations in Texas. The chaos at the southern border has created an environment where NGOs, funded with taxpayer money from the Biden Administration, facilitate astonishing horrors including human smuggling,\u201d he wrote on February 20. \u201cWhile the federal government perpetuates the lawlessness destroying this country, my office works day in and day out to hold these organizations responsible for worsening illegal immigration.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\ud83d\udea8Today, I\u2019m suing to end NGO&#8217;s operations in Texas. <br \/>The chaos at the southern border has created an environment where NGOs, funded with taxpayer money from the Biden Administration, facilitate astonishing horrors including human smuggling. While the federal government\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/KFg9O809mW\">https:\/\/t.co\/KFg9O809mW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Attorney General Ken Paxton (@KenPaxtonTX) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KenPaxtonTX\/status\/1760102761578819738?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasattorneygeneral.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/press\/Annunciation%20House%20Answer%20and%20Counterclaim%20Filed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lawsuit<\/a> says that Annunciation House \u201cappears to be engaged in the business of human smuggling,\u201d noting that \u201cat least some of the aliens it provides services to are present illegally and are trying to avoid Border Patrol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen Annunciation House shelters aliens whom it knows entered illegally, it is necessarily \u2018concealing or \u2018harboring\u2019 them from \u2018detection,&#8217;\u201d the lawsuit alleges. \u201cAnd Annunciation House\u2019s publication of the fact that it actively performs this service for illegal aliens logically \u2018encourages or induces\u2019 others to come, all in violation of Texas Penal Code.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paxton\u2019s office filed the suit after requesting records from the NGO. Annunciation House then sued the Attorney General\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOAG seeks to revoke Annunciation House\u2019s registration on the grounds that it has violated the law and failed to permit OAG to inspect, examine, and make copies of Annunciation House\u2019s records in response to a valid Request to Examine,\u201d the lawsuit states.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/texas-paxton-sues-migrants-illegal-immigration?intcmp=tw_fnc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News Digital<\/a>, Annunciation House said, \u201cThis is no different from the work of schools who enroll migrant children, the clinics and hospitals who care for the needs of their ill, the churches, synagogues, and mosques who welcome their families to join in worship. For the Attorney General to suddenly attack Annunciation House after forty-six years of service to the poor is simply shameful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Border Patrol agents have <a href=\"https:\/\/americanfaith.com\/more-than-one-million-migrants-encountered-since-october\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">encountered<\/a> more than one million migrants since the beginning of fiscal year 2024.
