An interview with King Solomon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peteenns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/keyboard.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8134\" src=\"https:\/\/peteenns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/keyboard-300x154.jpg\" alt=\"keyboard\" width=\"300\" height=\"154\"\/><\/a>I recently sat down with King Solomon, and he was kind enough to share some thoughts with me about the power of words\u2013whether spoken or typed.<\/p>\n<p>Although he himself personally has never blogged, he does try to keep up with the blogosphere, and he\u2019s formed\u00a0some opinions on how people speak to each other of Yahweh.<\/p>\n<p>Me: So King Solomon, what are you thinking?<\/p>\n<p>King Solomon: This.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Doing wrong is like sport to a fool,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but wise conduct is pleasure to a person of understanding.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>With their mouths the godless would destroy their neighbors,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but by knowledge the righteous are delivered.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Whoever belittles another lacks sense,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but an intelligent person remains silent.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>The words of the wicked are a deadly ambush,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but the speech of the upright delivers them.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Fools show anger at once,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but the prudent ignore insults.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Rash words are like thrusts,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but the tongue if the wise brings healing.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Me: So are you saying there is never right to let people have it? I mean\u00a0<em>really<\/em> have it?<\/p>\n<p>KS:\u00a0Did you hear what I just said?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m talking about\u00a0speech\u00a0as\u00a0a hate-sport, aimed at belittling, destroying, and landing blows, rashly delivered and driven by anger.<\/p>\n<p>But there are times, yes, when you need to let someone have it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em><em>Whoever winks the eye causes trouble,\u00a0<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but the one who rebukes boldly makes peace.\u00a0<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Better is open rebuke,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 than\u00a0hidden love.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I could go on.<\/p>\n<p>Me: OK, but so how do we know the difference between words as a hate-sport and words as rebuke?<\/p>\n<p>KS: You learn the difference through gaining wisdom. And if you\u2019re not sure, better to keep from speaking (or typing, as it were).<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Whoever belittles another lacks sense,<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 but an intelligent person remains silent.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>Even fools who keep silent are considered wise:<\/em><br \/><em>\u00a0 \u00a0 when they close their lips, they are deemed intelligent.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I could go on.<\/p>\n<p>Me: Thank you for your time.<\/p>\n<p>KS: No problem.
