The U.S. Army Pacific (USARPAC) held a five-day course discussing how the Chinese Community Party (CCP) thinks and operates militarily.<\/p>\n
Twenty-three servicemembers and civilians participated in the \u201cChina Way of War\u201d to build a \u201cnuanced understanding of the Chinese Communist Party and the People\u2019s Liberation Army\u2019s actions,\u201d according to a press release<\/a>.<\/p>\n Captain Carlo Orciga, U.S. Army Pacific Operations and Training and a coordinator for the course, said in a statement, \u201cUSARPAC leadership directed us to develop a course that would enhance general knowledge of China and their military capabilities.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the course\u2019s activities had students \u201crepresenting the [People\u2019s Republic of China], utilizing the knowledge they learned throughout the week to wargame a strategy to sabotage landing strips of the opposing team and cut off port access,\u201d the press release described.<\/p>\n \u201cAs an intelligence officer, it\u2019s incredibly important to know what the enemy thinks; so that you can try and predict what the enemy will do and why they make the decisions that they do,\u201d said Major Louis Crist, a participant in the course.<\/p>\n The China Way of War course comes<\/a> as the CCP has researched \u201ccyber-enabled influence operations\u201d (IO).<\/p>\n By adopting \u201ccognitive domain operations,\u201d the Chinese military is focused on a \u201cpsychological or cognitive decision to surrender, as compared with the 20th century construct of total warfare and complete physical exhaustion of adversary military capabilities and resources,\u201d according to RAND Corporation policy researcher Nathan Beauchamp-Mustafaga.<\/p>\n Representative Frank Lucas (R-OK)\u00a0recently said<\/a>\u00a0during a talk at the Hudson Institute that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is building an \u201cempire reminiscent of the colonial period,\u201d raising security concerns.<\/p>\n
